About

Janet Yano balances a creative practice with a career at Real Simple magazine. She studied Advertising in college thinking she would become an Art Director but enjoyed the business side of the industry, which lead to careers at Levi’s, People Magazine, O, The Oprah Magazine and Real Simple. She studied photography at UC Berkeley Extension while working and relished spending hours in the darkroom developing film and making black and white prints. Her photographs capture the symmetry, pattern and simplicity seen in her current watercolors series. And, she finds the same tranquilly at her painting table that she experienced in the darkroom.
